Faith & Spiritual Growth

Growing Closer to God in a Busy Season

Building a relationship with God does not require a perfect routine. It begins with making space for Him in the ordinary moments of everyday life.

Between work, studies, family responsibilities, friendships, and personal goals, it can be difficult to find time for spiritual growth. Sometimes we wait until life slows down before we commit to prayer or reading the Bible. But life rarely becomes completely quiet.

Spiritual growth begins with consistency, not perfection.

1. Start small.

Set aside five to ten minutes each day to read Scripture and reflect. Begin with a Gospel, a Psalm, or a short passage that helps you understand God's character.

2. Make prayer honest.

Prayer does not have to sound impressive. Share your gratitude, questions, concerns, hopes, and struggles with God.

3. Practice stillness.

Give yourself a few minutes without notifications, music, or distractions. Use that time to reflect on what you are learning and where you need God's wisdom.

4. Stay connected to Christian community.

Faith grows through worship, encouragement, service, and honest conversations with other believers. You do not have to grow alone.

5. Give yourself grace.

Missing a day does not mean you have failed. Begin again. The goal is a growing relationship with God, not a perfect streak.

Scripture

  • Matthew 6:6 - Jesus teaches about prayer.
  • Psalm 119:105 - God's word as a lamp and light.
  • John 15:4-5 - Abiding in Christ.

Reflection questions

  1. What currently helps me feel connected to God?
  2. What tends to distract me from my spiritual life?
  3. What small, realistic habit can I begin this week?

This week's challenge

Choose one consistent time each day for prayer or Scripture reading. Start with ten minutes and build a rhythm you can sustain.

Closing prayer

Lord, help me seek You in the middle of my everyday life. Teach me to make space for Your Word, to pray honestly, and to remain connected to You in every season. Amen.
