This explains what information Rooted collects and how it is used and protected. It describes how the app works today, and we will update it before any new kind of information is collected.
Rooted is a young adults Christian community initiative run by volunteer coordinators supported by the Praying Mothers ministry. It serves members from several churches. You must be at least 18 to use it.
To reach us about anything in this policy, use the Feedback page (you can create a free account to reach it). It goes straight to the coordinators.
Rooted is one of the offerings of the Praying Mothers ministry, and the ministry's public website is part of the same service. You can read it without an account.
Being a Praying Mothers coordinator does not give access to Rooted members' applications, and being a Rooted coordinator does not give access to prayer requests sent to Praying Mothers. Each coordinator is assigned to Rooted, Praying Mothers or both.
Account: your name, email address, and the time you accepted our terms.
Eligibility: your date of birth, used only to check the minimum age. It is never shown to other members.
Profile and application (optional unless a form says otherwise): display name, city or region, church, occupation, interests, languages, a short bio, your faith journey, church involvement, spiritual interests, a profile photo, and whether you want community only, introductions, or both.
Review records: your application status and its history, interview times you are offered or book, and coordinators’ private notes and decision reasons.
Participation: event RSVPs (going, waitlisted, cancelled), saved resources, in-app notifications, your email preference, and any feedback you send. We record who sent each piece of feedback.
Prayer wall: the posts you write (request, praise or encouragement), who you chose to share each with, whether it shows your name, your comments, and which posts you have said you are praying for. Posts are deleted 12 months after they are written, or sooner if you delete them.
Safety: the people you block (kept private to you), and reports you send, or that are made about you or your content, with who made them and what was done.
Introductions (optional): if you start the questionnaire, your answers about faith, values and what you are looking for; whether you are a man or a woman and who you would like to meet; your age range and other preferences; which details you agreed to share; and the introductions suggested to you with each person's answer.
Security records: an audit log of coordinator actions (such as application decisions and role changes), and technical logs kept by our infrastructure providers.
What we do not collect: private messages between members, a public member directory, or anything from your phone or contacts. If we add any of these, we will update this policy first.
Details about your faith and what you hope for in relationships can be sensitive. Sharing them is your choice, and you can leave optional fields blank. We use them only to review your application, run the community and, if you opt in, arrange introductions.
We can’t promise confidentiality beyond the access limits and practices described here.
These limits are enforced in the database, not only in the app’s screens.
We use passwordless sign-in. When you enter your email we send a one-time sign-in link. Keep it private, don’t forward it, use only links from the Rooted sign-in page you opened, and request a new link if it stops working. If you think someone else has used your link, tell us right away.
Links expire after a short time (by default one hour) and are meant to be used once. They are issued and checked by our authentication provider, Supabase.
Approved members can receive an email when a new event or resource is published, when a coordinator sends an announcement, and a reminder before events they RSVP to. You can turn these off on your profile page.
Some emails are part of the service and are always sent: sign-in links, emails about your own application (status updates, interview invitations, confirmations and reminders), and a short notice that an introduction is waiting for you. That notice contains no details about the other person.
Each of these companies has its own terms about how it processes data. Please read them if you want the detail.
To manage accounts, review applications, schedule interviews, run events and the resource library, send the notifications described above, arrange introductions you opt into, keep the community and our systems safe, and meet legal duties.
We do not sell your information and do not use it for advertising. The app has no analytics or advertising trackers. If that ever changes, we will update this policy first.
We use only the essential cookies needed to keep you signed in. We do not use analytics, advertising or social-media cookies. Our providers may log technical data needed to deliver the service.
Prayer posts are removed automatically. For everything else, a coordinator deletes information by hand when its period ends.
On your profile page choose “Delete my account” and confirm. Deletion happens straight away and cannot be undone. It removes your sign-in, profile, application, RSVPs, saved items, prayer posts and comments, your blocks, your photo and your introductions questionnaire. Feedback you sent stays but is no longer linked to you. For safety and legal reasons we keep, for up to 3 years and restricted to authorised coordinators: a short record that your account existed (your name, email, the outcome of your application and a summary of any introductions), reports you made or that were made about you, including your name on them, and the audit log. These are deleted when their retention period ends.
You can edit your profile at any time and turn off optional emails on your profile page. To ask for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to have it deleted, use the Feedback page (you can create a free account to reach it). It goes straight to the coordinators.
We limit who can see information, protect it with database access rules and encrypted connections, and keep secrets out of the app’s code. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee that information will never be accessed without permission. Tell us if you notice a problem.
When we make a material change we will notify members, for example by email or an in-app notice, before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest revision. See also the Terms of Use and the Community Guidelines.
These documents describe how Rooted works today. Details we are still finalizing, and features not built yet, are listed in the Operating Plan under “Open items and status”.
